Library

The library of Dr. M.K. Umathe College came into existence in 1984 when the college was established. The aim of library is to serve the needs of our students, faculty, research scholars and other academics and support the educational goals of the institution.

The library was started with only 42 books. At present college has a well stacked library with 13561 books and 20 journals and magazines. A collection of books includes reference sources like dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks, bibliographies, biographical sources, geographical sources, etc and textbook, general books on subjects taught in the institution, books for competitive examinations. It has 74 bound volumes of journals for future reference. Library has also a ‘Book Bank Scheme’ of text books which are issued to deserving students for whole academic year.

The library has subscribed to NList (INFLIBNET) for accessing e-resources. For remote access of NList e-resources library has issued User IDs and passwords. Beside this library has made available list of useful websites and free online e-resources which are helpful to students. There is internet facility in the library.

Library is partially automated having ‘LIBMAN’ software. The library management software consist module like Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serial Control, MIS Report, WEB-OPAC etc.

Rules & Regulations

Circulation Section:

1) Student can issue books from the library only after getting there library membership card.
2) Student must carry with them their college Identity Card while entering the library. They must show their identity card to the librarian or other library officials if they so demand.
3) Student must return the issued books on the book return date without fail. If any student wishes to keep the book beyond the return date he/she must got the return dated extended. Delay in returning the books after the due date will cost students rupee one per day per book.
4) While issuing the book student should properly check the book. If at the time of returning the book it is found that the book issued has been damaged or lost by the student, the responsibility shall lie with the student. In such a scenario the student will have to deposit a new copy of the damaged book or deposit the amount of the price of that book.
5) Student who has on their names library books, late fees or any other library dues will not be issued library clearance certificate till they clear all such dues.
Reading Section:
1) No admission in the library and reading section without identity card.
2) Students must enter their names, time of entering and leaving the library and sign in library attendance register.
3) Maintain complete silence inside the library.
4)Student should not sit in the library during ongoing lecture, practical, seminars or any other activity organized in the college.
5)Students will got books to read in the reading section only after depositing their indentify card. Books issued for reading section cannot be taken home.
6) Student cannot take home: Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Other reference books, Old question paper, Syllabus.
